My story

Bert Jensen: From Top Earner to Zero (And Why I Came Back)

I am Bert Jensen.

I have been married to my wonderful wife for thirty years, I have two grown daughters, I love dogs, and I live on a small organic farm in Silesia.

If you asked my family to describe me, they would tell you I am not particularly patient, but I never give up. That last trait got tested in ways I never could have imagined.

I have been involved in business and network marketing since 1982. Over four decades, I have seen every trend, every pitch, and every shiny object come and go. I have reached the absolute peak of the mountain, and I have had the entire ground collapse right out from underneath my feet.

Here is my story, the raw truth about what happened, and what I know now.

Portrait of Bert Jensen

Building It: 27 Years of Weekly Checks

In 1998, a close friend and food scientist named John Wadsworth approached me with an opportunity. He had discovered the health benefits of the noni fruit in French Polynesia and launched Tahitian Noni Juice. It was taking off in the United States, and he wanted someone to pioneer the European market.

Europe was a different world. The regulations were strict, people were naturally cautious about exotic products, and skepticism was high. I did not rely on flashy stage shows or loud promises. I spent years navigating novel food approvals, handling distribution logistics, and earning trust one conversation at a time.

It worked. Between 2004 and 2010, my organization grew to nearly 200,000 distributors and retail customers spread across dozens of countries.

For twenty-seven straight years, my commission check arrived every single week. On time. Without a single missed payment.

That income gave our family a life of freedom I will always be grateful for. We lived in New Zealand, Australia, and Switzerland. It paid for my daughters to attend top schools. Eventually, it allowed us to buy our current property in Silesia, where we built our debt-free homestead and organic farm from scratch.

Losing It: One Week to the Next

In December 2018, corporate moves started happening far above my head. Our parent company was acquired by NewAge Beverages in an $85 million transaction. In November 2020, more mergers followed.

The executives coming into the boardroom did not care about the field. They were dealing with corporate debt, institutional shareholders, and spreadsheets. To save their own balance sheet, they quietly rewrote the compensation plan.

Long-time distributors saw their commission checks slashed by up to ninety percent. Leaders who had built the company for decades watched their livelihood evaporate.

Our distributor base cratered. It shrank from 200,000 to 60,000, and by the end of 2025, it was down to about 3,200 people.

Then the final hammer fell. One week my payment arrived in my account. The next week, it was zero.

Nobody called me. Nobody sent a letter. Nobody apologized.

After twenty-seven years of unbroken loyalty, twenty-five of them spent at the top of the company, I was left holding absolutely nothing.

I treated that weekly check like a permanent pension. I assumed that after twenty-seven years of loyalty, the foundation was unbreakable.

I was wrong.

There Is No Free Lunch (And If There Is, You Are the Menu)

That experience gave me my personal motto, and it forced me to face three painful lessons I wish someone had handed me back in 1982.

You own a spot on rented land

In a traditional corporate job or network marketing company, you have no equity and no vote. A board of directors can rewrite the pay plan, sell off your customer database, or lock the doors tomorrow afternoon. They will never ask for your permission, and they will never apologize for doing it.

Longevity feels like safety

Receiving a check every single week for nearly thirty years creates a powerful illusion of security. You start to believe it is forever. The reality is that executives you have never met can destroy a thirty-year habit in five minutes.

Size will not protect you

We were one of the largest direct selling operations on the globe, with hundreds of millions of dollars in volume. It did not matter. When bad management piles up corporate debt, the sheer size of the ship just makes a louder crash when it sinks. Read the full story of how it happened.

Why I Came Back, and What I Am Doing Now

After everything fell apart, I walked away. We own our farm free and clear. We are debt-free. I spent my days outside landscaping, tending our organic gardens, taking long walks with our dogs, and enjoying quiet time with my wife.

I made a firm pact with myself: no more chasing shiny objects. I had wasted too much money on software and business schemes that promised the world and delivered nothing. Over twelve months ago, I closed my wallet completely.

I was not looking for another business. But retirement at sixty-plus can be sobering. When you look at current grocery prices, rising energy costs, and a fixed pension budget, it does not feel good. I did not want to spend the next thirty years pinching every penny.

My goal was simple: get my income back on track so I can keep taking care of my family, keep our homestead running, and afford the things we enjoy without stressing over savings.

Then an email landed in my inbox offering a replay of an event called Traffic Maestro. Because I am cautious, I watched it with a very critical eye. But what caught my attention was not the presentation. It was the people.

I noticed members who had joined this community years ago were still active and still here. In forty years in business, I have learned that when people stay in one place for years without being forced to buy monthly autoships, there is usually something real underneath.

So I took a deeper look.

My 6-Point Filter

Having lost everything once, I refused to touch any business that relied on the old, broken models. Anything I put my name to today has to pass this strict checklist.

1. No chasing friends and family

I will never corner an acquaintance at a holiday dinner again.

2. No inventory, no monthly qualifying

No garage full of boxes. No buying things just to earn a commission check.

3. 80% goes to the person who did the work

If a platform collects money, most of it belongs to the affiliate who made the sale, from day one.

4. Plain numbers, costs upfront

No hidden fees, no confusing volume points, no rank-advancement traps.

5. Honest income talk

Real business math and real customer use. No stage hype, no rented sports cars.

6. Tools that do the heavy lifting

Capture pages, automated email follow-up and an AI assistant that answers questions around the clock.

If You Are Curious, Here Is What I Found

The platform that checked every single box on my list is the HBA Turnkey Residual Income System.

It is not multi-level marketing. There are no downlines to manage, no ranks to maintain, and no corporate board rewriting the rules. It is a straight, clean affiliate model for practical business software that entrepreneurs actually need.

The math is simple and transparent:

  • You earn an 80% recurring commission from day one.
  • On the basic starter package, that is $128 per month in residual income for every customer you refer.
  • Just 2 referrals covers your software costs and puts you into monthly profit.
  • Just 24 referrals produces over $3,000 every month in recurring income.

That is example math, not an income guarantee.

Best of all for someone at my stage in life, the system handles the heavy lifting. It includes capture pages, automated follow-up emails, and an AI chat assistant named Sage that answers questions and guides prospects twenty-four hours a day. That lets me spend ninety minutes at my desk in the morning, and the rest of my day outside with my dogs.

Full Disclosure

If you ever decide to work with me and use these tools, I earn an 80% recurring commission. I prefer to state that plainly up front. Real businesses do not hide how they make money.

If you are retired, if you just lost a position you thought was permanent, or if you are simply tired of trading sixty hours a week for a paycheck you cannot control, take the free tour below.

When you take the tour, you can test out the system for free and get a complimentary copy of The Residual Income Shortcut ebook, written by my business partner, Paul Hutchings. It breaks down why traditional home business models fail, and how a high-percentage affiliate structure creates real freedom with a small customer base.

Look at the numbers, use your own common sense, and decide for yourself on your own time. No pressure. No hype. Just the facts.
