I've been in direct sales and network marketing since 1982. More than forty years.
In that time I've seen a lot of "brand-new software." Most of it was shiny object fluff. It drained your wallet, took away hours of your life and delivered nothing.
So when someone tells me about a new tool, I'm usually the first one to roll my eyes.
What I used to spend on tools
For years I bought the best and most expensive software on the market. Membership site software to support my downline. ClickFunnels. GoHighLevel for email. The top autoresponders, so my messages reached my team and my prospects.
In one year with my company, I sent 2.5 million emails. Over 15,000 leaders from my downline were members of my membership website. And I spent more than $120,000 on tools and replicated websites for my downline.
My team got all of it for free. It came out of my pocket. That was okay. It was part of building the business.
But hear me now: if I'd had the tool Paul showed last night back then, most of that money would have stayed in my pocket. Year after year, for at least ten years.
Today, everything I paid for back then sits in one place, The Home Business Academy. My website and funnels, a member area, this blog, my email list, broadcasts and autoresponders.
Why I stopped buying tools
Over a year ago, I stopped chasing shiny objects. No more courses I never finished. No more software I paid for every month and never opened.
I'm very careful where I spend money today. My wife and I are debt-free, and I want to keep it that way.
My rule hasn't changed: there is no free lunch, and if there is, you are the menu.
If you want the longer story of how 25 years with one company ended overnight, I wrote it here: My Network Marketing Company Was Taken Over.
What happened last night
Last night I joined a live session with my friend and business partner, Paul Hutchings. Over 430 people showed up, and almost everyone stayed until the end.
That doesn't happen often. People leave a boring webinar fast.
Paul took one plain-English sentence and typed it into the tool. Then the software built a whole working funnel, right there on screen. The page, the steps, all of it.
No coding. No hiring a freelancer. No lost weekend fighting with technical settings.
That made me stop and pay attention.
Why this matters if you're over 50
Most people I talk to don't fail because they're lazy. They get stuck on the technical side.
They buy a tool, open it, see fifty buttons and a blank page, and close it again. A month later the bill comes, and they feel stupid. They're not stupid. The tool was built for someone else.
I sit at my desk for 60 to 90 minutes a day. That's it. The rest of the day belongs to the garden, the animals and my family. I don't have a weekend to spend learning software, and I don't want one.
So if a tool can take what I'd say across the kitchen table and turn it into a working page, that saves me the part I hate most.
How I judge any new tool now
Before I spend a cent on software, I ask a few simple questions:
- Can I see it work live, not just in a polished sales video?
- Do I need technical skills to use it, or can I just describe what I want?
- What does it cost, in plain numbers, before I sign up?
- Will I still use it in three months, or will it sit there like the last one?
A live demo answers the first two questions fast. You can't fake a funnel being built in front of 430 people.
The last two are your job. Look at the costs. Be honest with yourself about whether you'll use it.
Watch the replay
I'm not asking you to take my word for it. Watch it work and decide for yourself.
If you want to see how the software works and grab the playbook bonus, the full recording is here:

Fair warning: Paul is pulling the replay and the playbook down this Friday, October 30, at midnight. Grab a cup of coffee and give it twenty minutes while it's still up.
Reading this after Friday? The replay may be gone, but the free tour of the system I use is still open: Take the free tour on AskBert.net
